Pecan-Crusted French Toast with Pears

One of my favorite weekend rituals is making a fancy breakfast on Sunday mornings. By “fancy,” I mean not cereal. It’s a time when the morning routine is a bit more relaxed and we can spend some time in the kitchen, both making and enjoying breakfast. I tend to rotate between pancakes, waffles, and French toast, so when I found this recipe for Pecan-Crusted French Toast, I knew it would be a perfect addition to our morning line up. Spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg, dipped in pecans, and topped with fresh pears, this morning meal is going to be hard to top.

Ingredients
Serves: 4
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 teapoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/4 cups finely chopped pecans
  • 8 slices whole grain bread,
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • Maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 pear, sliced
